THE FOUNDER - EUGÈNE PRÉVOST

from 1924 to 1955

Carpenter-cabinetmaker, Eugène Prévost is the owner of a modest manufacture of house furniture, doors and windows. Simultaneously, he learns mechanics and explores electrical energy in order to modernize his workshop. He even provides his village with an electricity grid that, in addition to powering its factory, serves 23 subscribers. Then, a friend who recently started a public transport company asks him to build a bus. The following spring, in 1924, the exit of the first Prévost bus marked the beginning of a flourishing Quebec company.

Due to his talent, his temerity, his perseverance and his courage, Eugène Prévost, a Quebecer pure wool from Saint-Claire de Bellechasse, stood out by giving birth to the bus industry Prévost, whose coaches today crisscross the roads of North America. In his short but intense career, Eugène Prévost has laid the foundations for a company that is set to become successful and to carve out a place in the North America's economy. Perpetuating his ideal, his successors took the Prévost logo among the major international prestige industries. Today, Prévost has become a subsidiary of Volvo Bus Canada Group, whose parent company is located in Sweden.
